New LV diastolic function guideline | BSC

The British Society of Echocardiography has introduced new, patient-specific algorithms for assessing LV diastolic function.

Here’s how it’s different from the past: Previously, a single algorithm was used for all patients.

Now, the guidelines offer specific algorithms tailored to three groups:

1) those with normal LV systolic function,

2) impaired LV function, and

3) atrial fibrillation.

This ensures assessments are more relevant to each patient’s condition.

The tailored algorithms take into account the unique characteristics of each group, leading to more precise and accurate assessments.

This shift from a one-size-fits-all approach allows for better identification of diastolic dysfunction and consequently improving overall patient outcomes.
