Right Ventricle function in COVID-19 patients
The study published in JACC Cardiovascual Imaging evaluated the importance of Right Ventricular Longitudinal Strain (RVLS) in prognosis of COVID-19 patients with cardiac pathology. It was concluded that RVLS is a powerful predictor of mortality in COVID-19 patients.
Cardiac involvement in COVID-19 and how can AI help?
A short video from ESC stating the prevalance of COVID-19 patients presenting with symptoms of cardiac involvement. Turns out that cardiac involvment can be met in up to 30% of patients. Unfortuntately, half of them will die… The method of choice here is 2D transthoracic echocardiography (TTE). Recognition of dysfunction of Left Ventricle (LV) during TTE can significantly improve differential diagnosis and patient management.
